Dixie Alice Sizemore, born on August 12, 1964, in Sizerock, Kentucky, gracefully departed this life on January 1, 2025, at her residence in Sizerock. She will be remembered fondly as a loving and devoted homemaker, a diligent nurses aide at Hyden Health & Rehab Center, and the Mary Breckinridge Hospital. Dixie's nurturing spirit was evident in all aspects of her life, from her professional roles to her cherished family interactions.
Dixie's remarkable proficiency in the kitchen was accompanied by a delightful sweet tooth that brought joy to her loved ones. Known for cooking ample meals that often exceeded the limits at Walmart checkouts, she had a way of filling her home with warmth and laughter through her culinary creations. Her zest for life was further exemplified by her admiration for Rod Stewart, whose music often served as a soundtrack to her family gatherings.
She is survived by two daughters, Nikki Sizemore (Tim), and Tiffany Sizemore-Burns (Gillis). Dixie's legacy continues through her five grandchildren, Alexis Sizemore (Dalton), Alex Sizemore, Kallie Burns, Tommy Lee Sizemore, and Emerie Burns, as well as her one great-granddaughter, Everlee Spurlock. Her three sisters, Lynn Barger (Ronnie), Deb Hensley (Conley), and Robin Sizemore (Willie), alongside her lifelong sister friend, Mary Webb, also carry forward her spirit. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends are left to cherish her memory.
In addition to the joy her family brought her, Dixie was a dedicated member of the Bear Branch Baptist Church in Bear Branch, Kentucky, and Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Saul, Kentucky. These communities were a significant part of her life and faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Rev. Tommy Harris and Rosemary Taylor Harris, her beloved husband of nearly 40 years, Lee Carson Sizemore, her brother, Tommy Harris Jr., and her niece, Mary Jolene Hensley. Dixie's profound impact on all who knew her will forever be treasured, and her memory will be held close in the hearts of her family and friends.
