Char Spiess nee Marchbank, age 80, late of Homer Glen, IL, passed away August 30, 2025. Devoted companion, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She worked at the New Lenox Lumber Yard for roughly 30 years. Char doted over breeding and showing champion Dobermans and Dalmatians. She enjoyed riding and taking care of horses. She belonged to Stone City Kennel Club 4H in New Lenox, IL. Avid fan of putting many miles on her snowmobile in Northern Wisconsin. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.


Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Spiess. Long time companion of Bill Graves. Loving mom of Steve (Cindy) Spiess, Sharie (Mike) Steele, Scott Spiess, Joy (Gary) Cortese, and Shawn (Cheri) Spiess. Cherished grandmother of 12. Cherished great grandmother of 18. Caring sister of Jack (June) Marchbank, Craig (Helen) Marchbank, and the late Gary Marchbank. Dear daughter of the late Jack and Dixie Marchbank. Kind aunt of several nieces and nephews


Visitation, Monday, September 8, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Rd. Mokena, IL 60448. Chapel Service, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Rd. Mokena, IL 60448. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Frankfort Township, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, or Illinois Doberman Rescue.
