Koch Funeral Home - ScioiDeloras Kay Amore, “DJ” as most knew her, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born October 29, 1946, in Canton she was a daughter of the late Kenneth Dowdle and Mary Cecil Dowdle and was a graduate from Jewett High School.
DJ was very active in her church and had all her faith in God. She always looked forward to the Scio Street Fair every year, waiting for parade day when all her grandkids and great grandkids would come and sit with her at her house along the parade route and laugh as they caught all the candy. She also had fond memories of taking them to the annual fishing tournament at the Scio Legion, she had so much fun. She loved quilting and the ladies she quilted with. DJ loved her job hauling the Amish and over the years they became family to her. She hauled the work crew for 14 years.
DJ sadly leaves behind her son Kenneth Jones and his wife Janie; her sister Nettie and Tom Albaugh; 6 grandchildren Aaron and Janelle Jones, Courtney and Kyle Gallagher and Jennifer and Matthew Hilliard and 7 great grandchildren Harper, Claire, Kaden, Addison, Samuel, Desarae and Elena.
She never knew a stranger and passed her infectious joy of life to everyone she met. She will be missed by many.
A memorial service celebrating DJ’s life will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 3 pm in Scio United Methodist Church, 117 Maple St, Scio, prior to the benefit her family already scheduled for her at the church from 4-6 pm. Funds raised from the benefit will be used to pay her expenses and any remaining money will be donated to the Scio United Methodist Church to help with all the services they provide to the Scio community. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with her arrangements. www.kochfuneral.com
