Dolores Charboneau Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home - Rogers City on Feb. 23, 2026.
Dolores Ann (Smith) Charboneau, loved by many simply as Dee, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 23, 2026 at the age of 83 after a life of loving and serving Him faithfully.

Born in Detroit, Michigan on June 24, 1942, Dee was the daughter of John and Janet (Ciesielski) Smith.

On July 6, 1960, at the age of 18, Dee married Harvey Charboneau in Fraser, Michigan. After starting their life together in Detroit, Warren and Madison Heights, Harv and Dee settled in Cheboygan in 1971 where they raised their two sons – Dave and Dan. Prior to Harv's death, Harv and Dee shared 56 years of marriage together marking both their 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries with vow renewal ceremonies.

Occupationally Dee worked in retail and hospitality prior to maintaining the records for their own businesses. Dee's heart though was not only in her own home loving and raising her family but also worshiping and serving in her church home. Dee faithfully prayed for, ministered to and mentored others all while also quietly serving the Lord through children's ministry, adult Bible studies, cleaning the church building and sewing countless costumes for each Christmas pageant.

Her family will always remember her for her quiet strength, her caring, compassionate and committed nature and as a mighty prayer warrior. We are confident the Lord has met her saying, "Well done, My good and faithful servant."

Surviving Dee are her sons David Charboneau of Indian River and Daniel (Erin) Charboneau of Cheboygan; grandchildren, Cassie (Grant) Schwartz, Lydia, Jared and Levi Charboneau and by her great grandson Zane Schwartz – all of Cheboygan. She is also survived by her brother Jerry Smith of Toronto, Canada.

Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, her parents, John and Janet Smith and also by her brother, Robert Smith.

A memorial service will be held at a later time.
