Dolores Clear, 93, passed away on July 10, 2025 at Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Cranston. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles C. Clear, Jr. They were married for 68 years.
She was the daughter of the late Antonio Imondi and Elvera (Garzone) Imondi. She was born in Pawtucket, RI on a winter night in Dec. 1931.
The family moved to Lincoln in 1938.
She married in October 1953 at St. Jude's Church in Lincoln. She and her husband, a Navy veteran, built a home in Lincoln in 1955 right next to the home in which she grew up. Together, they had four children and provided the most loving, nurturing environment. Sadly, they lost their young daughter, Lori, in 1961.
Dolores was integral in providing support and office management to a family construction business that grew to be quite successful. She and her husband helped to grow Freeway Construction Company, Inc. of Pawtucket and they spent their married lives together working the business during the day and going home together to be with their children at night. They were inseparable. Whenever someone would ask how they managed to stay together so long, Charles would chuckle, "we're only trying it out to see if it will work."
Her stove always had coffee perking and the table in her kitchen was the place of laughter, conversation, food and pastry. She fed so many people and cared for the needs of so many.
Dolores was interested in entrepreneurial ideas. She was creative and energetic. She once opened a little shop called Arts 'N Ends in Pawtucket.
Dolores was funny, personable, and easy to be with and everyone that met her loved her company. At Cedar Crest, she made so many dear friends. She will be remembered for her trademark "Woo Hoo" that brought smiles to all.
She loved her kids, grandkids and great grandchildren. She was a force in their lives and loved spoiling them. Known as Gammy, her sayings, her kindness and the memory of time spent with her will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her children: David W. Clear and his wife, Bet; Debbi L. Nelson and her husband, Bob; and Charles C. Clear Ill and his partner, Bonnie. She was predeceased by her young daughter, Lori Grace Clear. She also leaves her three grandsons: Bradford Nelson and his wife, Christy; Mark Nelson; and Christopher Nelson; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia Nelson and Jackson Nelson.
Funeral arrangements will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Grace Church, 4 Lafayette Street, Johnston, RI. Burial will be private.
