Lawrence Poirier Jr., 90, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Violet (Poulin) Poirier, with whom he shared 69 years of love, devotion, and cherished memories.

Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Theresa (Michaud) Poirier. Mr. Poirier made his home in Cumberland for more than 65 years, after spending his early years in Pawtucket. In retirement, he and his wife enjoyed wintering in Florida for 28 years, embracing sunshine and community during those seasons away.

Following high school, Mr. Poirier proudly entered the United States Coast Guard, where he served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict.

He later worked as a professional driver for JH Lynch Company in Cumberland, RI, for 24 years. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 251.

Mr. Poirier was a member of St. Aidan/St. Patrick Parish in Cumberland. He also enjoyed swimming in the ocean and his pool, clambakes in the backyard, traveling internationally and took great pride in maintaining his yard, which became a reflection of his care and attention to detail. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a volunteer on the Ashton Rescue, and Ashton Fire Tax Collector.

He is survived by his children, Suzanne LaLiberte and her husband Kenneth of Cumberland, Monique Eaton and her husband Kip of Barrington, and Mark Poirier and his wife Sandy of Seekonk; his seven grandchildren, Kip, Kara Ann, Alyse, Klark, Phillip, Jacob, and Corinne; and his three great-grandchildren, Callum, Olivia and Skylar. He also leaves his sister, Jacqueline Mongeau of South Attleboro, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to honor and celebrate Lawrence's life with Visitation on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in St. Aidan/St. Patrick Parish, 1460 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
