Dolores I. DeLew

Dolores Ione (nee Dain) DeLew, 96, a former longtime resident of Des Plaines, IL, who moved to Glen Ellyn 6 years ago, passed away October 26, 2025. Dolores was born April 18, 1929, in Fon Du Lac, WI to Elton and Florence (nee Johnson) Dain.She married Charles (Chuck) Albert DeLew on November 17, 1957, they raised 4 children together in Des Plaines, and were married for nearly 60 years.
Dolores "Lori" grew up in Elmwood Park, IL with parents and siblings George and Dorothy Dain.She studied Home Economics at Simpson College in Iowa and at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.She worked in Sears as textile analyst, in Chicago, both before she had her children and then again after they were teenagers.After she retired from Sears, she enjoyed working in her garden, babysitting her grandchildren, playing games with friends, dancing and traveling around the U.S. with her husband Chuck, and trailer camping in Northern Wisconsin for many years.She loved to picnic, swim, and water ski in Wisconsin's many lakes.
Chuck preceded her in death in 2017.She is survived by her four children, Dr. Jonathan (Barbara) DeLew of Wheaton, Nancy (Stephen Schmidt) DeLew of Falls Church, Virginia, Christopher (Nancy) DeLew of Londonderry, New Hampshire, and David (Michelle Guy) DeLew of San Rafael, California; 12 grandchildren, Mark (Emily) DeLew, Paul (Sweny Dsouza) DeLew, Michael (Emma) DeLew, Leah DeLew, Kevin Schmidt, Claire Schmidt, Jacob (Michelle) DeLew, Laura DeLew, Kelly DeLew, Zachary DeLew, Sierra (Jon McDonnell) DeLew, Dana DeLew, and 6 great-grandchildren, Veronica, Davey, Nehemiah, Rocio, Elise and Axel.
