Donna Lea Thompson, daughter of Thomas John and Lois Logan Thompson, was born
December 6, 1934, in Leon, Iowa. She passed away October 26, 2025 at the Mary Queen And Mother Center in St Louis, Mo. where she has lived for the last three years.
As a young child she lived in Leon and Lineville, Iowa. During World War II her father helped build Military bases and the family moved several times. They lived in Salina, Kansas; Macomb and Galesburg, Illinois; and Fountain City, Tennessee. While living in Tennessee her father helped build the Secret Atomic Energy Facility at Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
In 1944 they moved back to Iowa to the Thompson farm north of Promise City, Iowa. She completed grade school in Promise City, Iowa, high school in Seymour, Iowa and attended College at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa and the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.
Ater teaching grade school two years in Perry, Iowa, she did administrative work for private businesses and the Federal Government. She worked in Des Moines, Iowa; Denver, Colorado; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina; and Kansas City, Missouri. She retired in 1990 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was a member of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church, North Kansas City, Missouri. Her favorite activities were cooking and collecting recipes, art work, music, genealogy research and growing flowers. She leaves many cousins and lot of friends that will miss her very much.
A Graveside service for Donna will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Corydon Cemetery in Corydon, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Nancy Caruso and mailed to Thomas Funeral Home Attn: Thompson Family 303 E. Jefferson Corydon, IA 50060.
