Dolores Irene Long was born on April 3, 1936 to Vernon and Iola Long in Milbank, SD. She attended country school and graduated from Summit High School. Dolores was united in marriage to Donald Johnson on August 15, 1954 in St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa Township. To this union four children were welcomed; DeLaine, Danny, Dixie and Dean.
The couple lived on the family dairy farm until retiring to Watertown in 1989. She enjoyed being a choir member and attending women's circle Bible study.
Dolores was instrumental in bringing 4-H to the Summit area and was a club leader for 10 years, from 1964-1974. During her retirement years in Watertown she was an active member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, worked part time at Viking Glass and looked forward to joining friends in Arizona during the winter months. Dolores was an accomplished seamstress. She was known for her beautiful quilts and sewed countless quilt tops for Lutheran World Relief and Quilts of Valor, donating her time and talent to many.
Dolores is survived by her children, DeLaine (Terry) Rasmussen of Sisseton, SD, Danny (Linda) Johnson of Harrisburg, SD, Dixie (Greg) Murphy of Fairmont, MN; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister; one son; and a great-grandson.
