Dolores Kalo Obituary
A bright light has dimmed, Heaven has a new angel. Dolores M. (Haurilesko) Kalo, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A life - long resident of Duquesne, Dolores was born on April 9, 1931 to the late George and Anna Haurilesko of Duquesne. She is survived by her daughter Kristine Kalo (Aron Lesko) of North Versailles, granddaughter Erica (Michael) Tokarsky of North Huntingdon, grandson Brian Kalo of Mount Pleasant, great grandchildren Eli, Faye, David and Andilyn, a sister Marion Sevich of Monogahela, a brother Robert Haurilesko of Fayette City, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dolores will meet her loving husband, John S. Kalo and sons David C. Kalo and Stephen P. Kalo who are waiting in Heaven. Dolores was a superior culinary artist, whipping up sumptuous meals and baked goods. No one can compare to her stuffed cabbage, pastries and sweets. She was also an accomplished ceramics painter and interior decorator. She loved to decorate her home for the seasons, making it beautiful and comfortable. Dolores was also an avid tea connoisseur, inviting many to her back porch to serve tea and goodies in pretty tea cups, she enjoyed gardening and digging in the dirt gave her peace, she also had fun on shopping trips with her daughter and seeing many places of interest..
Growing up, Dolores was a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Duquesne, being the first to get married in the new Church, which her father helped build. She became a member of St. Stephen Hungarian Roman Catholic Church in McKeesport and most recently a member of Mary Mother of God Parish in McKeesport. Dolores's most important accomplishment was taking extremely good care of her son, Stephen, whom she adored and loved with her whole being. To her, family is most important. If you ever met Dolores, she had a way of making you feel at ease, as if you had known her for many years, with her sweet and kindly disposition. All who knew her, loved her. She will be sadly missed by many.
Family and friends will be received in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home Inc, 88 Richford Street, Duquesne, on Thursday August 15, 2024 from 2-8 P.M. A blessing will be offered on Friday August 16, 2024 at 9:15 A.M. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Corpus Christi Church, 2515 Versailles Ave., McKeesport. Internment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Mifflin.
