Dolores M (Perelli) Martel, of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20th at The Kaplan Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old.
Dolores was born on May 14, 1936, in
Malden, Massachusetts, to her late parents Daniel and Helen (Sciarappa) Perelli. She graduated as a member of the Everett High School Class of 1954. Dolores worked at the Compass Group for many years, where she was a valued employee. Dolores was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Women's Guild and the Saugus Senior Center.
Dolores enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, including playing bingo, bowling, and solving crossword puzzles. She was also an avid fan of game shows. Dolores especially looked forward to her weekly appointment at Miss Rosemarie's Hair Stylist every Saturday morning. More than anything, she cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Dolores was married to William R. Porcello until his passing in 1970. She later married the late Leo F. Martel, with whom she shared 35 years of marriage. Dolores was a devoted mother to Donna and her husband Paul Marquis of Hooksett, NH; Steven Porcello and his wife Cheri of Melrose; Renee Martel and her partner Paul Solimine of Lynnfield; Debra and her husband Tim Cogan of Saratoga Springs, NY; John Porcello and his wife Michelle of West Sand Lake, NY; and Denise Porcello of Middleton. She was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dolores was the dear sister of the late Daniel Perelli and Sandra Barbaro. She is survived by her long-time partner, Dominic Forgione.
The family of Dolores would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the 4th floor nursing staff of Melrose Wakefield Hospital and the staff of the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers for the exceptional care and support provided to Dolores.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment to follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
