Roland A. Martel, Sr., 92, widower of Geraldine (Page) Martel, died on Sunday (December 7, 2025) at Arden Courts in Farmington, CT.

Roland was born on September 29, 1933, in West Springfield, MA and was a son of the late Ernest and Juella (Plankey) Martel.

He was raised in Epping, New Hampshire and was a graduate of Dover High School Class of 1951. He enlisted to serve in the United States Air Force where he served as a mechanic. His duty stations included Westover AFB and overseas in Saudi Arabia. He worked his career at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME from 1962 until he retired in 1986. He and Geraldine raised their family in Exeter, NH before they retired to Winter Haven, FL where he lived until recently returning north to live with family. He was a true handyman who loved to help others. He especially kept in Florida.

Roland is survived by five children: Jeannie Radford and husband, William of Ridgeville, SC, Roland Martel, Jr. "Tony" of Bronson, FL, Jon Martel and wife, Karen of Bristol, CT, Julie Ann Cronin and husband, Daniel of Lincoln, MO, and Melissa Bouchard and husband, Jay of Milton, NH; a brother: Paul Martel of Ashmore, IL; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, parents, and three siblings: Lawrence Martel, Lena Reagin, and Louise Nickerson.
