Domanick Therese Obituary

Therese A Domanick fell asleep in the Lord on January 24, 2025. She died peacefully in her home. Born as Therese Schmidt to John Schmidt and Marion Carmody on September 28, 1938 in the Bronx, her ancestry was half Irish and half German.
Therese married Joe Domanick on September 23, 1986. After living for a time together in Croton, they moved to Bronxville where they lived together for nearly 20 more years until Joe passed away in April, 2023 – at the age of 98. Therese's siblings also predeceased her.
Joe and Therese had no children, but as regular members of Three Hierarchs Chapel at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in Crestwood, they were stand-in grandparents for many children every week.
Therese received her BS in Nursing in 1960 from Hunter College and her MS in Education from SUNY Oneonta in 1973. She was a licensed Registered Nurse with a NYS Public Health Nurse Certificate, a NYS School Nurse – Teacher Certificate, and a CDC Infection Control Certificate. Therese spent much of her life working as a school nurse at various schools and camps, including Reece School, Spence School, Bronxville Union Free School District, Trinity School, Lycee Francais de New York, and Town School. Before that she spent 15 years working as a nurse case manager for the VA and Hudson Valley Health Care System in Montrose, NY where she coordinated nursing care for over 100 homeless male and female veterans.
Therese's funeral will be held in the chapel at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in Crestwood, NY at 9:30am on Monday, January 27 with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.

May my dear cousin, Therese (Terry) Domanick rest in peace.
Her passion for her Nursing profession was so admirable. So many patients were so fortunate to experience her care. When she was a school nurse at a local kindergarten in Bronxville, years after her official retirement, she would ask each child to sit in her magic chair to help them feel comfortable in her care. Her loving compassion for all of her patients of all ages during her long and fruitful Nursing career was always evident.
Because of her, as a university professor, I always sought out my Nursing Depatment colleagues as friends.
