Domingo C. Mata Sr., 81, of Pecos, passed away on April 11, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Domingo was born in Pecos, Tx to Felipe and Francisca Mata on August 14th, 1943. He went to school in Pecos but later received his GED. He married Elvira in March 1970 in Pecos. He worked seismograph with GSI, Veritas and Halliburton for over 40 years before going to work for the LEC and later the RCDC for eight years before retiring. Once he retired he spent his time being a home body. He loved to be at home enjoying snacks, working on crossword puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune. In later years he loved to watch Caillou and Masha the Bear after going to McDonalds with his “Precious” Raeven. He leaves behind his family that will dearly miss him. Especially his midnight sweet snack runs in hiding.
Domingo is preceded in death by his parents Felipe and Francisca Mata. His siblings Julia Contreras, Catalina Ybarra, Ismael Mata, Flora Ybarra, Enrique Mata and his son CWII Johnny
V. Mata. Granddaughter Michelle Mata, Grandson Eric Mata, Great Granddaughter Aalyiah Mata.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Elvira V. Mata, step-son David Mata (Nancy), sons Domingo C. Mata Jr. (Vicky), Albert Mata, daughter Rosa Salinas (Ruben), brother Felix Mata, sisters Anita Evaro and Vicky Ybarra. He is also survived by 14 grand-children and 28 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Domingo wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Serrano, American Home Health and Hospice, Myra Bitolas, Melinda Baeza, Darla Blackstock, Robin Devivo and Sylvia Contreras. Also, a special thank you to Lee Serrano for visiting Domingo at the hospital and offering a special prayer. Also to all the people who brought food to the family during such a difficult time.
