José M. Lerma, Sr., 75, of Pecos, Texas, passed away on August 29, 2025.
He was born on October 29, 1949, in Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Sabino and María del Refugio Lerma. On May 8, 1969, he married Josefina Hidalgo Lerma in Pecos, Texas.
José worked for Taylor’s Farms for many years before later joining Pradon Construction.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sabino Lerma and María del Refugio Lerma; his wife, Josefina Hidalgo Lerma; his two sons, José M. Lerma Jr. and Lorenzo Lerma; and two brothers, Ricardo Lerma and Sabino Lerma.
José is survived by his daughter, Lorena Lerma Morales; grandchildren Jaime, Gabriel, and Nadia Morales; Alejandra, Alexa, and Aliah Lerma; and siblings Angela Calderon, Nena Lara, Beto Lerma, Miguel Lerma, and Mundo Lerma. He also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren.
José was loved by many. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family, especially during gatherings and barbecues. He found great joy in tending to his little ranch, feeding his sheep and especially his donkey. Above all, he will be remembered as a hardworking man whose love for his family and strong spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 10:30am to 9:00pm and Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 9:00am to 9:00pm at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home. Rosary will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 7:00pm at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home. Mass will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 2:00pm at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial to follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos, Texas.
Pallbearers will be: Jaime Morales Jr., Gabriel Morales, Alfonso Lerma, Ruben Lerma, Francisco Coria, Javier Esquivel, Alex Coria, and Javier Saenz
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all family and friends for their support during this time. A special thank you goes to the Home Health and Wound Care team for their care and dedication.
