Dominic Vannard Barree, Sr. was born on January 5, 1974. He passed away on May 15, 2025.
Dominic attended Skyline High School, graduating in 1989. He went on to attend El Centro Community College, the Culinary Arts School, and Barber College.
Affectionately known as "Big Daddy", "Big D", "Dom", "Daddy", and "Chico Bean", Dominic met the love of his life, Trisha, on November 19, 1998. The two united in matrimony on June 6, 2009, and remained united until his transition.
Dominic loved Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He embraced his Catholic faith and believed Jesus was his guiding Light.
He learned to cook at a very young age, and a love for the art of creating amazing dishes began. He was always a go-to for anyone who wanted to learn to make any dish. Being a foodie at heart, he never stopped researching the best mom-and-pop fine restaurants in the DFW area and around the world, watching every cooking show he could find.
A comedian who could make anyone laugh, he also enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, of which he was a die-hard fan since birth. Dominic would always say, "and a fight go with it." Above all, he most loved spending moments with his wife, children, and grandchildren; being at home next to his wife was his happy place. His love for his family will resonate in their hearts forever.
Dominic will be fondly remembered for his amusing, devoted, and affable nature. His charisma and sage will be cherished forever.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Arthur Cooper; his maternal grandmother, Erma Jean Barree; his aunt, Anita L. Barree; and his grandmother, Gloria Faye Curry.
Those left to cherish precious memories include his beloved wife, Trisha T. Barree; his mother, Antoinette Dawkins; his amazing children, Jona Barree and Dominic Barree, Jr.; 8 grandchildren and counting; his cousin, Seneca L. Barree; his brother, Antarian Hasty; his best friends, Bubba Walker and Tony Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends he regarded as family.
