On November 17, 2023, Dominic (Nick) Anthony Carlone passed away peacefully at the age of 84. He is survived by his beloved children Anthony Carlone and Melissa Carlone (Owens), daughter in-law Tonya Carlone, son in law Mark Owens, grandchildren Isabella, Olivia, Gavin, Harper, and Giuliana, sister Rose Falsetto, brother Mike Carlone, nieces' MaryKay Cristofaro, Anita Johnson (Falsetto), Lizanne Falsetto, Maria Falsetto and nephew Paul Falsetto. He joins his wife, Sandra Carlone (Jorgensen), sister Angie Cristofaro and parents Giovanni and Maria Beatrice Carlone in eternal life.
Nick was born on March 2, 1939 in Seattle, Washington to Italian immigrant parents. He was the youngest of 4 children born to Giovanni and Maria. He grew up in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle and attended Beacon Hill Elementary and St. George's Catholic School. Nick graduated from O'Dea High School in 1957. Nick went on to receive his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and later a Master's Degree in Education/Administration from Seattle University. To support himself while he furthered his education, Nick worked for the U.S. Postal Service. As a child of immigrant parents, he believed in hard work and higher education as a way to achieve the American dream that his parents originally sought when they came to the United States.
After graduating from college, he began a thirty-seven year career as an educator with the Seattle Public Schools. He spent a good portion of his teaching career as a classroom teacher and later a librarian. Nick taught at many Seattle schools including Rainier View, Genesee Hill, Roxhill and Fairmount Park Elementary. He enjoyed bringing the most innovative techniques to the classroom. He had a strong passion for teaching and shaping future generations.
Nick was known for his generosity and kindness. He was always the first to show up and offer a helping hand when a family member or friend was in need. He was a devoted father and husband who was committed to his family's happiness and success in life. He demonstrated his love for his family by caring for his wife Sandra throughout the final years of her life. Nick will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
