Dominic Scappaticci, 90, passed away April 22nd, 2023, at Mayo Hospital. Born in Detroit, Michigan on October 4th, 1932. The son of Angelo & Alvera Scappaticci. He attended Highland Park HS and worked most of his life in the produce business working with his father-in-law.
Dominic was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Rose Marie Scappaticci; his sister, Betty Jane Kaiser; and his grandson, Nicholas Albert Scappaticci.
Dominic is survived by an extremely loving family. His sons, Dominic Scappaticci Jr., Thomas Scappaticci and fiancé Jean Ransdell, and James Scappaticci and fiancé Kristin Nash. Sister-in-laws Louise Peitz, Fran Hollingsworth, Mary Scrafano, and brother-in-law Donald Kaiser. Grandchildren Angelo Scappaticci, Michelle DeVine and husband Drey DeVine, Dominic Scappaticci III, Michael Scappaticci, James Scappaticci Jr., and Elliana Scappaticci. His Great grandchildren Angelo Scappaticci and Isabelle DeVine. Three former daughter-in-laws, Sherry Scappaticci, Diane Scappaticci, and Patricia Scappaticci. Along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Dominic was very devoted to all of his family. His love of small children was legendary. He cooked amazing pasta dishes for his grandchildren and was a willing babysitter. He loved airplanes, history, reading, and watching television. He was always willing to help his family when needed. A stubborn old school Italian in many ways. He still remained remarkably balanced and only looked for the good.
Dominic will be missed by all and even though we had you for 90 years it still felt short in many ways. That is why we will love and miss him terribly.
