Dominic "Nick" Joseph Stankowski, 96, a lifelong resident of the Rothschild/Weston area passed away on December 19, 2024, at the Skaalen Nursing Home in Stoughton, WI under the care of Agrace Hospice.
Dominic was born on August 4, 1928, in Galloway, WI to Frank and Julianna (Goszkowicz) Stankowski.
Nick's early years were spent on a farm in Halder, WI. Adulthood brought him to the Wausau area where he met and married Marcella Kort on November 26, 1949, at St. Mary Catholic Church. They were married 64 years until her death in 2013. They had two children, Jessica and Michael.
In 1990, he retired from an engineering position at Marmet Corp. in Wausau. Nick enjoyed many activities and hobbies, among them was golf, especially when wintering in Florida, riding his motorcycle, fishing and deer hunting. He also liked working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. He was a self-taught concertina player and enjoyed playing with the Central Wisconsin Concertina Club.
Dominic is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Robert) O'Donnell of Stoughton, WI; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Stankowski, Schofield; grandchildren Nathan (Jennifer) Stankowski, Libbe (Mark) Slavin, and Hayley O'Donnell; great-grandchildren, Madison Stankowski, Ella and Bode Slavin; sister Virgina Falkowski and sister-in-law Millicent Baltus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella; son Michael; brothers Leo, Vincent, Ted, Alex, Sylvester, Edwin, Severin, and Ernest; sisters, Sally Woytasik, Johanna Stankowski, and Evelyn Nowak.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Rothschild, WI. There will be a visitation from 10:00am - 11:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am. Burial at St. Patrick Cemetery in Halder, WI will be at a later date.
