Obituary of Dominick A Bianco
Dominick Anthony Bianco, the man, the myth, the legend, was born to Michael and Adele Bianco on March 28, 1936. Dominick had four siblings: Michael, Eleanor, Mary, and Irene whom he loved very much. It was here in his youth that he learned the importance of hard work and what first inspired him to develop the determination and discipline for saving for his future. This ultimately turned out to be a driving force for him and a large motivator in his success. It also pushed him to join the military where he became a marine in 1954 and traveled the world serving his country until 1956.
However, Dominick's most challenging yet rewarding endeavor came in the way of the love of his life, Grace Caroline. From the moment he met Grace he knew she was the one but there was only one problem…she was betrothed to another. This did not deter him. With love in his heart, charm up his sleeve, and the unmatched ability to be disarmingly persistent he was successful in winning her over. So successful actually, that he was able to convince her to elope in what is lovingly referred to in our family as their "first" wedding anniversary as their "second" wedding anniversary was the formal wedding ceremony that both their parents believed to be their first and only wedding.
Nonetheless, once Dominick had Grace it was only natural for them to begin their family which came in the form of three children: Cheryl, Greg, and Jennifer. Life was wonderful. Dominick had his beloved wife and three children and worked extremely hard to provide for them, including working three jobs at once at one point. He worked through the ranks of Kimble Glass where he eventually retired as Supervisor of the Tube Drawing Department at the age of 55. He was subsequently coaxed out of retirement and convinced to become the General Manager of Chase Instruments in Rockwood, TN. His signature can still be seen all over that facility to this day.
Dominick had much success and happiness in his life, but his greatest joy came when he became known as "pop pop". His first grandchild, Jenny, was born and he learned the sweetest pleasures of becoming a grandfather. The joy continued with each grandchild added to the family until there were nine of them. He cherished each and every one. Time was often spent vacationing with them in their Florida home where the screened-in porch would roar with laughter with different board games played as the warm Floridian air would permeate throughout the screens. Late night games could only be outdone by breakfast at the pool that he fought so hard not to get but admittingly enjoyed so much.
In his home in Vineland, time was often spent golfing at local courses with his dear friend Tommy Caterina. He was also commonly found on his treasured riding mower getting into things that would best be left to a younger man, but he would hear none of that. As a matter of a fact, he so frequently would get into things best left for the young and strong that I do believe it became one of his favorite hobbies over the last several years.
If Dominick was anything throughout his life, it was strong-willed. Strong-willed to grow and nurture a loving, supportive family. Strong-willed to ensure that his wife was well taken care of in their home as her health declines. Strong-willed to savor every moment with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and strong-willed even to the bitter end where he was adamant to be discharged home from the hospital at midnight on August 31 making two of his grandchildren terrorize the hospital staff and doctors to get him discharged home. So strong-willed that he made it home that night and curled up in his bed next to his wife on their "second" wedding anniversary holding her hand all through the night. That was Dominick's last night. He passed away on Aug 31st, surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his eternal love of 67 years, Grace Bianco; his sister Mary Bianco; his children Cheryl Eisdorfer (Gary), Gregory Bianco, and Jennifer Thatcher (Jim). Grandchildren Jennifer Jones (Dave), Jessica Eisdorfer, Britani Bianco, Lauryn Bianco-Trapani (Angelo), Timothy McLaughlin (Cara), Jillian Gott (Robbie), Gregory McLaughlin, Grace McLaughlin and Dominick McLaughlin (Michelle Salamoni), and nine great grandchildren, Noah, Brayden, Avery, Owen, Wyatt, Andrew, Kinsley, Timothy, and Angelo Rocco. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Michael and Adele Bianco; his in-laws, Roy and Grace Coffin; his sisters Eleanor Bianco and Irene Wandland; his brother Michael Bianco Jr.; his daughter-in-law Lori Bianco and his furry love bug, Roy.
