Obituary of John A Silvidio

John A. Silvidio, 79, passed away on August 29, 2025, at Inspira Medical Center. Born and raised in Vineland, John was known for living life to the fullest. Larger than life and never one to hold back, he called things as he saw them.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, John deeply loved his country and was a steadfast supporter of fellow veterans. His passion for the outdoors led him to countless hunting and fishing adventures across the country and beyond. Groundhogs never stood a chance within range of his porch.

John had a special bond with his 1969 Chevy, which he lovingly restored with his son. He took great pride in keeping his vehicles spotless-cleaner than most bathrooms, as a matter of fact. The Vineland car wash will surely miss his frequent visits.

He cherished daily chats with his sister Rosemarie, truck rides with his loyal dog Duke, and filled his retirement days with Friday morning breakfasts with his veteran buddies, Wednesday lunches at the club, and Bloody Marys at the Crab Trap with his beloved wife and best friend of 60 years, Christine. He was known for his humorous complaints about the weather and the Phillies-neither ever quite met his standards.

Sunday dinners were a highlight, especially when he made his famous homemade gravy and meatballs. John was happiest surrounded by family, and he never missed a chance to brag about his children and grandchildren.

A passionate supporter of the NRA, Veterans, NASCAR, the Phillies, and Tunnels to Towers, John also enjoyed watching westerns from his favorite chair, with Christine by his side and Duke at his feet.

John is survived by his wife Christine (DeWaele) Silvidio; daughter Kimberly Marple (Wayne); son John Silvidio (Mary); grandchildren Hunter, Owen, Kendall, Nicholas, Aaron, and Matthew; great-granddaughter Raya Hope; and sister Rosemarie Silvidio. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony "Zip" and Rose Silvidio.

A graveside service and burial will be held on Friday, September 5th at 1:30 pm from Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, 133 Trench Rd, Bridgeton.
