Donald Wayne Agnelli ("Don") was born in San Jose, California, on August 28, 1938, and grew up in Salinas with his parents, Dante and Anita Agnelli. From an early age, Don was a true outdoorsman at heart - happiest when hunting or fishing with his father. That love of adventure eventually found a new outlet when he discovered his first great passion: the automobile.
What began as a hobby soon became a lifelong career. As a teenager, Don started working at car dealerships, learning the trade from the ground up - from lot attendant to parts counterman to salesman. After a short stint in the Army Reserves, he joined Grant Bishop Chevrolet as a salesman and later opened his first used car lot on Stevens Creek Boulevard. In his early thirties, Don became part owner of San Jose BMW and eventually fulfilled a dream by opening his own dealership, European Auto Imports in Santa Clara, where he sold Fiats and Alfa Romeos.
While attending San Jose State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in business, Don met his future wife, Toni. As the family story goes, Don was playing in an organized badminton game - and Toni was the referee. They married in 1963, beginning a partnership that spanned 62 wonderful years, filled with love, family, and shared adventures.
Don devoted much of his life to his work - and when there was no work to be done, he found something to repair, clean, organize, or sell. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and tireless provider who took pride in every project and every relationship. His passion for sales and his unwavering drive inspired those around him.
Surrounded by a devoted wife, two sons and their spouses, grandchildren, and a successful business, Don lived the life he dreamed of. When his son Greg asked if he would have done anything differently, Don's answer was simple: "No." He completed his mission in life on September 28, 2025, at the age of 87.
Don is survived by his wife Toni; their sons Scott (Debi) and Greg (Lisa); and grandchildren August and Avalon. Private services were held at Los Gatos Memorial Park on October 9, 2025.
Don will be remembered for his boundless energy, his quick wit, and his deep love for his family - qualities that made every moment with him unforgettable.
