Don Charles Allen was born in Kanab, Utah on December 23, 1941 to Philo and Erma Allen. He was the 10th of 14 children and grew up learning how to work hard. Don met his sweetheart in 1958 and they started their life together in 1961. They were sealed for time and eternity in 1963 in the St. George Temple. They moved to Cannonville and started their little family, having their first daughter Evaline, who passed from this life at 5 months old. Don and Merle eventually moved to Fredonia where they settled down to raise their other children.

Don tried his hand at many jobs, including truck driver, mechanic, reserve law enforcement officer, tow truck driver, construction and many different jobs for Kaibab Industries. He and his family also cut, split and sold thousands of cords of wood – one of his boy's least favorite jobs. He earned the title "Dangerous Don", which he lived up to regularly.

Don was an amazing father and loving husband. Family was of utmost importance to him. He stayed in contact with his siblings and their spouses regularly and loved slaving over a hot fire to cook up his famous dutch oven taters for anyone willing to stay and visit. He told excellent stories, and some of them were even true. He also had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation. He thoroughly enjoyed his time as a Ward Missionary and Temple Ordinance Worker.

Don passed away in his home on 4/8/25 surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife Merle, his children Roene (Dwayne) Shaw, Charles (Connie) Allen & Harris (Lisa) Allen. Also, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He also leaves behind 4 living siblings: Israel, Fred, Ashley & Stephen. He is proceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings, his daughter Evaline and granddaughter Talisa.

A viewing will be held at Mosdell Mortuary on Friday, April 11 at 6 PM AZ time and a graveside service in Fredonia on Saturday, April 12, at 4 PM AZ.

In lieu of flowers, be like Don and pay it forward. Keep Smilin'.
