Nedra "Pauline" Burchinal, 80, passed away peacefully in St. George, Utah on Sept 18th, 2025. She was born on June 28, 1945, in
Kanab, Utah, to Paul and Nedra Baughman.
Pauline's life was rich with family, resilience, and adventure. At just 16, she welcomed her first child, beginning a life long role as a mother. She would go on to have a total of seven children, over the course of her life.
She worked alongside her mother at Nedra's Café, where countless family gatherings took place, creating memories that remain dear to this day.
After a brief first marriage to Marvin Hatch, Pauline married Richard Pulliam, and together they welcomed five more children. By the age of 26, Pauline was the proud mother of six. Though their marriage ended after 14 years, Pauline continued to move forward with courage. She later settled in Flagstaff, Arizona, where she worked as a hostess at Little America, always cherishing summers when her children came to visit.
Pauline then met and married Steve Marsh, and though their baby daughter passed away at birth, Pauline carried her memory tenderly in her heart. Her path later brought her to the great love of her life, Terry Burchinal, whom she met in 1980. After 20 years together, Pauline finally said "yes," and they married, spending a total of 40 years side by side.
Pauline and Terry built a life of adventure, business, and togetherness. In 1987, they opened The Attic, a consignment store in
Kanab, Utah, and the following year, they brought back Nedra's Café in Fredonia, Arizona, to the delight of family and friends. Over the years, the restaurant grew into multiple locations, including Kanab and St. George. Though Nedra's Café finally closed its doors in 2020, it left behind a legacy of food, family, and community.
Together, Pauline and Terry built their home in Fredonia and traveled far and wide. They enjoyed RV trips to NASCAR races, camping, fishing, concerts, rafting the Colorado River, and sharing the journey with their beloved Yorkies, Maggie and Moe.
Pauline had a vibrant spirit - a mix of adventurous and cautious - often teased by her children for being both daring and a "scaredy-cat." She loved fashion, always ensuring her hair and makeup were just right, and she could shop with joy and flair. With her love of music, a cold beer, and a jukebox playing for hours, Pauline created an atmosphere of warmth and fun wherever she went, always generous and kind.
Pauline's life was filled with love, laughter, hard work, and unforgettable memories. She will be remembered for her beauty, her resilience, her devotion to family, and the joy she brought to those who knew her.
Her memory lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is reunited in heaven with so many of her loved ones who have gone before.
She is survived by her children, Sheila, Sherri, Scott, and Renae, as well as 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren who were her joy. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry; her daughters, Michelle, Shanell, and infant daughter Lisa; along with her grandsons, Damian and Tyson, and infant great granddaughter, Aleah. Her parents and sibling's.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Legacy Village, Memory Care and Zions Way hospice.
