Sybil Margaret Gonsoulin Burchinal

Sybil Margaret Gonsoulin Burchinal was born on July 28, 1928, in Biloxi, MS and passed away March 11, 2024, in Ocean Springs, at the age of 95.

Sybil traveled for 18 years with her husband while he was in the Air Force. They retired to Ocean Springs in 1968 where they raised their daughter. Sybil loved sewing and gardening and worked in the school cafeteria for many years. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was a Legion of Mary and an Alter Society member.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Douglas Burchinal; parents, Neville J. Gonsoulin and Jeanne Blanchard Gonsoulin; sister Rosemary Gonsoulin Medlin and a brother, Norman J. Gonsoulin. 

Survivors include her sister, JoAnn Gonsoulin Wetzel (John) of Long Beach, MS; daughter, Mary R. Lamey (Reginal) of Perkinston, MS; grandsons, Samuel R. Shivers, Michael D. Shivers (Jessica), Dale W. Shivers, all of Ocean Springs, MS; 8 great-grandchildren, 5 nieces and 6 nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at St Alphonsus Catholic Church, Ocean Springs, MS with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs, MS.
