Don Michael Baucom, 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 25, 2023, at Atrium Health Charlotte. Mike was born on March 17, 1943, in Hamlet, NC and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
Throughout his life, Mike accomplished many things and had a lasting impact on those around him. He was known for his dedication and hard work during his career as a sales engineer. After many years of service, he retired from Industrial & Textile Supply.
Mike's warm and compassionate personality endeared him to everyone he met. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and always made sure to let everyone know about his workouts at the Belmont YMCA. Don's love for his family was evident in everything he did.
An active member of the Belmont Gad-Abouts, Mike enjoyed pursuing his hobbies and interests with like-minded individuals. He found great joy in participating in various activities with the group.
One of Mike's proudest accomplishments was being a longtime member at Christ Church at River's Edge in Belmont. He dedicated himself to serving the church community as an Elder and was known as their biggest prayer warrior. His faith was an integral part of his life and brought him comfort and strength.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Judge Allen Baucom and Mary Ruby Mercer Baucom, as well as his sister Betty McDonald. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Bonnie Baucom. Together they built a lifetime of memories filled with love and happiness.
He will be dearly missed by his children: Karen Walsh and her husband Chris; Amy Baucom; Matt Baucom and his wife Cezanne; Emily Ronemus (and her late husband Hoge); and also, his Prayer Daughter, Samantha Parker. Mike will also be remembered fondly by his sister Beegie Creed and her husband Steve, his brother Jerry Baucom and his wife Jackie.
Mike's legacy lives on through his numerous grandchildren: Rebecca, Zach, Andrew, Julia, Billy, William, James, Timmy, Jacob, Zechariah and Miriam. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Jack and Ian. His unconditional love and support for them will forever be cherished.
Additionally, Mike also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who admired him greatly.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 31, 2023, at Christ Church at Rivers Edge, 901 E Catawba St, Belmont, NC 28012 with Pastors Bill Troutman and Mike Morgan officiating. The service will begin at 2:00 PM with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be held privately by the family.
Mike Baucom will be remembered as a loving family man, a dedicated professional, a faithful servant of God, and a friend to all. His kindness and compassion touched the lives of countless individuals. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Mike requests that in lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions be made to the Christ Church at River's Edge at PO Box 821, Belmont, NC 28012.
