Don Ricky Berry "Rick" of Kenner, Louisiana passed away at his home on February 15, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was 72. He was born in Florala, Alabama, raised in Shreveport, Louisiana and later moved to Metairie in 1967.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Peggy Vicknair Berry; his son, William D. Berry; his daughter, Sara Berry Payne (Bryan); grand twins Megan Faber and Matthew Faber, grandchildren and great grandchildren by marriage; Andrew Tadlock (Lizzie), Jacob Payne (Ariana) and Heather Payne, 2 great-grandchildren Eloise Tadlock and Aiden Payne along with multiple cousins, nieces, nephew, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Frances Strawn Martin and father, Donald Richard Berry.
Rick attended C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport and East Jefferson High School in Metairie, Class of 1970. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1974. Rick's love story with his wife Peggy began in high school, and they reunited years later, marrying in 1975. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Rick and Peggy ran their business, PR Associates, together for over 40 years, with Peggy continuing the legacy. Rick was a loving and devoted husband to Peggy for 49 wonderful years, a loving father and Pawpaw. He was a constant presence in Megan and Matthew's lives, always ready with a smile, a joke, or a helping hand. Rick was witty with a great sense of humor; he was quite the prankster at times and always had a new business venture working in his head. He was a man of many passions, loved playing his guitar, golf, listening and singing along with his favorite oldie but goodie songs, dabbling in the stock market, vacationing with Peggy and his grand twins and of course, winding down with a beer in hand. Rest in peace, Rick. Your love, laughter, and legacy will be deeply missed.
Peggy would like to thank their Friends in Faith group for their love and support now and throughout Rick's illness. Also, our sincere appreciation for the compassion and kindness of the nurses and staff of Notre Dame Hospice.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service to honor Rick's life to be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Vineyard Church of New Orleans, located at 4340 Sal Lentini Pkwy, Kenner, Louisiana, 70065. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the Service to immediately follow at 12:00 p.m.
