Don Dickerson

Don L. Dickerson (1947–2025)

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at his home with family in Hendersonville, Tennessee. 

Don age 78 was born in Cairo, Illinois, in 1947, the oldest of four children born to Imogene (Parrott) Dickerson. He graduated from Cairo High School in 1965 and went on to earn his degree from Murray State University in 1970.

A Life of Music, Service, and Dedication, Don built a successful career serving his community as an owner of his Allstate Insurance office. Beyond his profession, he leaves behind a powerful legacy of philanthropy and music. An accomplished musician, Don played the saxophone in the band The Mods throughout his high school and college years. Later in life, he channeled his passion into service, creating the popular fundraising group, The Garage Band Revival, over 20 years ago. Through their efforts, Don and the band raised substantial funds for the preservation of his hometown’s historical buildings and for children in need throughout the southeast and beyond.

Don took immense pride in his family. He always looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and celebrating their accomplishments.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Imogene. Don is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine Dickerson, and his son, Sean Dickerson. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Sullivan Dickerson and J. R. Dickerson. Don is further survived by his siblings, Gordon Dickerson, Donna Kay Shipley, and Brenda Shakir; his sisters-in-law, Tina Mowatt and Lynda Rushing-Ashley; and many treasured nieces and nephews.

Don touched the lives of many with his love and unwavering commitment to his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the wonderful memories he created.

A Celebration of Don’s life will be held on Saturday, January 10th, with a visitation open to all from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at: Sumner Funeral and Cremation Lakeside, 104 Sanders Ferry Rd.. Hendersonville, TN.
