Don Feitz, age 74, of Carrollton, Missouri, was a beloved family man, friend, and community member, who was known for his friendly demeanor, generosity, and selflessness, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family, at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, Missouri.
Born in Brookfield, Missouri on April 19, 1949, Don was a twin son of Everett Laverne and Daisy Eleanor (Potter) Feitz. His life was characterized by a deep love for his family, a passion for his work, and an unwavering commitment to his community. Don's impact on those around him was profound and lasting.
Don's formative years were spent in Brunswick and Triplett, Missouri, and he graduated from Northwestern High School in 1967. He continued his education at Central Missouri State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing in 1971. He was a member, of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity where he made lifelong friendships. His education paved the way for his entrepreneurial ventures, which included owning East Side Tobacco, several car washes, a laundromat, and Stor-All-Storage Facilities. His work was more than just a means to an end; it was a reflection of his commitment to his community and his desire to make a positive impact. Despite his business success, Don remained humble and approachable, always ready with a kind word or helping hand. He was also a faithful man who was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carrollton.
On November 27, 1976, Don married the love of his life, Linda Sue Lock, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carrollton. Together, they filled their home with laughter, warmth, and an open-door policy that welcomed friends and family alike. Their marriage was a testament to their enduring love, mutual respect, and shared values. Don was a devoted husband, a loving father, doting grandfather; and beloved brother. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Despite his busy schedule, Don always found time for his favorite pastimes. He had a great love for golf, and was often seen perfecting his swing at the Carrollton Country Club. Always one to embrace the simple pleasures in life, Don enjoyed watching westerns and spending time with his friends, often riding around in his truck, sharing stories and creating memories.
His love for his pet cat, Simon, was well known among those close to him, as he was a constant companion and source of comfort and joy to him. His zest for life and his ability to find joy in the everyday endeared him to all who knew him.
Don's life was well-lived, and his legacy and spirit will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to know him.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Linda of the home; their children, Leslie Behm (John) of Orlando, Florida, Katie Elgin (Dallas) of Denver, Colorado, and Chris Feitz (Shannon) of Naples, Italy; his twin brother, Dale Feitz (Dianne) of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Emery Elgin, Jude Elgin, Kiernan Behm, Hailey Feitz, and Natalie Feitz; numerous nieces, and nephews; cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Feitz and Daisy Lyon.
Please join the family for an informal gathering from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the Carrollton, Country Club, 23483 County Road 260, Carrollton, Missouri.
