Don Howell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel & Gardens on Feb. 20, 2025.
Donald Jerome Howell, 75, passed away on February 17, 2025, in Buford, Georgia.
Born on March 13, 1949, in Quitman, Georgia, Don lived a life filled with love, devotion, and adventure. A proud veteran, he honorably served two tours in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Navy. His service to his country was a source of great pride for him and his family.
Don was a true Southern gentleman-kind-hearted, gentle, and deeply devoted to those he loved. He shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lynda. Their love story began with a brief courtship that blossomed into a lifetime together, proving that love at first sight is real. As a father and grandfather, Don was unwavering in his love and support. He cherished his daughters, Danyelle and Amy, and found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren-Samantha, Luke, Jack, and Xander. Whether watching Luke pitch at baseball games or simply enjoying family gatherings filled with laughter and good southern food, Don treasured every moment with those closest to him.
His passions extended beyond family; he had an enduring love for classic cars and owned several showstoppers over the years. He also had an adventurous spirit-his younger years saw him as a member of a skydiving club, always eager to embrace life's thrills. Another favorite pastime was watching Alabama football games alongside his son-in-law James-a tradition that brought them closer together over the years.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Madlin Howell. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 15, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at The 57th Fighter Group Restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia (3829 Clairmont Road). All who loved Don are welcome to attend and share stories in remembrance of this remarkable man.
Don's legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
