Don Miles Moody, 82, of Olustee, passed away at his home surrounded by family on November 18, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, November 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel in Altus with Tom Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at the Olustee Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Don was born on May 10, 1941, to Austin and Lucille (Cates) Moody. Don was a graduate of Olustee High School. In 1964, Don married Elizabeth Faye (Bagwell) Moody in Boswell, Oklahoma. In this 59-year union Don and Faye were blessed with five children, Raymond, Larry, Harley, Michelle, and Gene.
Don was a U.S. Service member, serving a total of 8 years in the United States Army. Don also served as a school board member for Olustee Public Schools for 46 years. In fact, this was a tenure that set a record as the longest serving school board member in the State of Oklahoma. Don was a lifelong member of the Olustee Church of Christ. His dedication and faith to the Lord led him to serve the church in many areas. For many years Don was self-employed, owning and operating Don Moody Dozer Service. Don enjoyed working on Caterpillar equipment and servicing everything with his Victor Torch and Lincoln Welder. He believed that Victor and Lincoln would create an adapter kit that could fix anything.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lucille; brother, James Bruce Moody; son, Harley Doug Moody; and grandson, Nathan Heider. Don is survived by his wife of the home, Faye; children Raymond Moody and wife, Cheryl, Larry Moody and wife, Sherry, Michelle Futrell and husband, Josh, and Gene Heider; grandchildren, Justin Moody and wife, Kelsi, Collin Moody and wife, Leah, Breanna Moody, Rhett Moody, Stetson Moody, Jenace Moody, Cicely Moody, Emberlin Moody, Ashlynn Futrell, Kailyn Futrell, Josslyn Futrell, Karli Pena, Destanie Carnes and husband, Tyler, and Emilee Heider; great-grandchildren, Abagail Moody, Austyn Moody, Jaxon Moody, Warner Moody, Oliver Moody, Sophia Pena, and Isabella Pena.
