Odis Glenn Foreman, a proud American and devoted patriot, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Olustee, Oklahoma, on March 4, 2026, at the age of 92. His primary caregivers, son, Glenn and daughter-in-law, Renee were by his side.
Born to Barney and Laura Ashley on February 7, 1934, in Altus, Oklahoma, Odis was the second of six children. After attending school in Altus, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952. He faithfully served as a Chief Gunner’s Mate during the Korean and Vietnam Wars before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of dedicated service to his country.
Following his military career, Odis pursued a profession in home construction before becoming a power plant master mechanic with SDG&E in San Diego, California, and later with Pacific Power Corporation near Rock Springs, Wyoming. In 2007, after the passing of his wife of 46 years, Murlie Elizabeth Foreman, Odis returned home to Oklahoma and made his residence in Olustee.
A quiet man of faith, Odis was devoted not only to his country, but to his family and his church. Known as a straight shooter with a dry and ironic sense of humor, he had a way of drawing people in with his calm presence and honest nature. Odis enjoyed wandering through antique shops and museums and spending time working on race cars. He loved fishing and proudly displayed his prize catch—a 26-pound Lake Trout—stuffed and mounted. Yet the real treasure of that day was not the fish on the wall, but the time spent on the water with his son amid the scenic beauty of Flaming Gorge, Utah.
In retirement, Odis could often be found sitting in his chair in the garage, even in the triple-digit heat of southwest Oklahoma, content to watch the wind blow and the grass grow. He was deeply rooted in his community, serving as Head Deacon of First Baptist Church of Olustee for a decade. Odis was also the Olustee Screaming Eagles’ number one fan, faithfully supporting local sports teams and cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners every chance he got. He found great joy in being of service to others and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
He leaves behind his children, Laura Kay McQuillams (Alvin), Glenn Foreman (Renee), Cheryl Way (Monte), Scott Foreman (Sandi), and Steve Foreman (Sara); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Thomas Foreman (T.J.), Arzella Rhodes, and Gay Feazel (Larry); and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Odis will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose legacy will endure through the lives he touched.
The family humbly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in honor of Odis to: First Baptist Church | P.O. Box 301 | Olustee, OK 73560. Online memorial tributes and expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.
