Don Owens

William Donald "Don" Owens, 97, passed away November 21, 2024.
A native of Greer, son of the late William Eugene and Ellen Wilson Owens. He retired as a Major with the U.S. Army Reserves having served during WWII, retired as President of Owens Insurance, and was a lifetime member of Greer First Baptist. He was the longest serving member of Greer Lions Club, served on Greenville County Council, and was the recipient of Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Don served 25 years as Chairman of the Greenville County Voters Registration Board, was a former board member of Greer Community Ministries, and delivered Mobile Meals for 40 plus years.
Surviving are a son, Riley Owens of Greenville; two daughters, Donna Owens Tuten of Greenville and Sally Owens Seaver (Art) of Greenville; four grandchildren, Will Tuten (Katie), Matt Tuten (Victoria), Riley Seaver Smith (Tyler), and Sam Seaver; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Owens was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Stella Guest Owens and his second wife, Dorothy Stack Owens.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Greer First Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Doug Mize. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Will Tuten, Matt Tuten, Sam Seaver, Tyler Smith, Jay Craft, Don Coggins, Grayson Thomas, and David Seaver.
The family is at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Art Seaver.
