Don Reid, 94, peacefully passed into the arms of his Savior on April 17th, 2025, finally reunited in Heaven with the love of his life, Anna Jean. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Don lived a life marked by faith, family, and a passion for the open road.
Born in 1930, Don grew up with a fascination for anything with wheels. His drive and determination turned that childhood passion into a lifelong career, as he built Reid Trucking from the ground up. For Don, the most rewarding part was always the people-the dedicated team, the drivers, and the relationships that made every success feel even more meaningful.
Once he retired, he was able to fulfill his dreams of riding his bike and his other passion of cars. His lifelong love for cars wasn't just a hobby-it was a way of life. Whether it was restoring a classic, attending car shows, talking shop with fellow car enthusiasts, or simply enjoying a Sunday drive, Don's joy behind the wheel was infectious. He also had a deep affection for bicycles, often choosing two wheels over four to explore the world around him and kept him moving with grace and grit well into his later years.
Don had a passion for WWII. He carried a deep reverence for that era and often immersed himself in books, documentaries, and thoughtful conversation, keeping alive the memory and sacrifices of those who fought for our country.
Above all, Don was a man of unwavering faith. His love for Jesus was evident in how he lived-generously, hard working, and with a spirit of humility. He cherished his family dearly, always being a source of strength, a word of wisdom, or a helping hand. His home was a haven of laughter, prayer, and stories from a life richly lived.
He leaves behind a legacy of love in his daughter Sandy Reid Giovanetti, grandchildren Jesse (Megan) Giovanetti, Lauren Giovanetti (Julian), David Reid, Michael Reid, great-grandchildren, Izabella, Ava, Blake, Bryson & Kaleb and all who had the blessing of knowing him. His journey on earth may have ended, but his story-and the love he gave-will never fade.
Funeral Monday, May 5th 10:00 am Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St. Salinas, Ca. 93901.
