It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Don Duran Richardson, who departed from this life on September 5, 2024, at the age of 64 due to natural causes. He was a beloved spouse, father, sibling and friend, cherished by those who knew him.
Born on July 13, 1960, in Gainesville, GA, Don was the son of the late Clifford Ervin Richardson and Marion Jo Earls. He grew up in Gainesville, GA, and attended East Hall High School before enlisting in the Army in 1979. After his service, he built a successful career as a chef, working in popular restaurants in his hometown. His cooking was not only his profession but also his way of spreading joy and comfort to those around him. Beyond his professional life, Don was passionate about serving at his church and preaching the Gospel around his community. He was known for his generosity, consistently donating food and clothing to local family shelters and offering vital support, such as providing water to the fire and police departments in his area.
Don is survived by his wife, Ché Tabor-Richardson, and his children: sons Don Richardson Jr. and Deshaun Watson, stepsons Rhondo Robinson and Donté Raye; and daughters Leondra Williams, LaToya (Shakim) Maxey, and Keshia Buffington. He was the proud grandfather of Oriah Ware, Cenareous Goss, Dazaria and Dyterious Randolph, Ja'Kim Maxey, Mesyah and Xyan Buffington, Jamere and Jeremih Richardson, and Dontavian Strickland.
Don is also survived by his siblings: Toni (Johnny) Lyles and Debra (Robert) Jefferies, and his brothers Clifford (Joanne) Richardson and Perry Richardson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kerry (Patty) Richardson, and sisters, Janice Blackwell, Cynthia Richardson and Barbara Shields. He also leaves behind his cherished aunts, Desser Earls and Almeria Richardson, and a large extended family of nephews, nieces, in-laws and dear friends.
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Psalms 23:4
