Don Charles “Sam” Slaker Jr., age 59 of Medina, Ohio, passed away on Friday evening, February 14th, 2025, following a brief illness. Sam was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 20th, 1965, to Don Charles Slaker Sr. and Joan (Metrik) Slaker. A graduate of Brunswick High School, class of 1983, Sam served in the Army and proudly worked for the State Department for numerous years. While working for the State Department, Sam was stationed in Prague, Cayman Islands, Romania, and many other foreign countries. Sam loved water and enjoyed spending time at the beach and swimming. An animal lover, Sam, also enjoyed spending time with his cats and dogs. Sam was very handy and enjoyed home improvement projects as well as working in the yard to improve the aesthetics of his house.
Sam was preceded in death by his father. Don Sr.
Survivors include his loving mother, Joan Slaker of Brunswick; two children, Alzbeta (Brent) Hrubey and Don Charles Slaker III, all of Brunswick; sisters, Denise Slaker of Medina, and Debra Slaker of Brunswick; A nephew, Christopher (Haley) Feliciano of Brunswick and a niece, Jessica (Sonny) Makowski of North Royalton, OH; and many great nieces and nephews; a longtime companion, Gayle Weigle and her daughter, Zoey Weigle.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, at 2 p.m. in Carlson Funeral Home Brunswick chapel with officiating. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 1-2 p.m. in the funeral home.
