Dona was born on May 29, 1925 in Snyder, Texas to Rita Coyle Barger and Hugh Alfred Barger.
Her early childhood was spent on her father's farm until the Dust Bowl and the 1930's Great Depression, forced her and her family to move to Bynum, Texas.
She eventually moved to Dallas and worked various jobs, until she moved to Washington, D.C. From 1944 to '45, she lived there to work as an adjutant for the Department of the Army.
Upon returning to Dallas, she met her future husband, Doyle P. Horsley. In 1946, they got married and remained married for over 50 years, until his passing in 1999.
Dona enjoyed cooking, going to church, reading, playing bridge, traveling, and was a member of the Fort Worth Shakespeare Club. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Doyle P. Horsley; and her two daughters, Dona Catherine Bartran and Cynthia Jean Wohlman.
Dona is survived by three grandchildren, Laura Bartran Hellings, Judith Elaine Wohlman and Charles Trevor Davis; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Sophia Hellings; and her beloved son-in-law, Kipling Charles Bartran.
"God has truly blessed me in this life and it is a joy to know that there is much, much more. The Lord is Risen."
