Donaciano "Don" Villegas Sanchez, Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. Born in Sanderson, Texas, on October 22, 1943, Don lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to his family, faith, and community.
Don is lovingly remembered by his wife of many years, Irene Rodriguez Sanchez of Andrews, Texas. His legacy continues through his daughters, Leticia Graham of Boerne, Texas, Corrina Rios and Daniel of Lubbock, Texas, Michelle Sanchez and Joseph of Lubbock, Texas, and Valarie Sanchez of Lubbock, Texas, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. Don's joy was multiplied by his fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immeasurable happiness.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Donaciano Fuentez Sanchez and Magdalena Villegas Sanchez and step-father Jose Molano; his daughter Diana Sanchez; his sons Don Sanchez and Steven Sanchez; his siblings Anita Barrera, Jimmy Sanchez, Tony Sanchez, Jessie Sanchez, Raymundo Sanchez, and Paul Sanchez. Don is now reunited with them, leaving a legacy of love and memories for his family to hold dear.
An advocate for self-improvement, Don obtained his GED and furthered his education by completing numerous college classes at Odessa College. His commitment to learning was only matched by his dedication to his career. Don was a respected foreman at Kirby West in Andrews, Texas, where he worked diligently for twenty-nine years before his well-deserved retirement. Known for his skilled hands and inventive mind, Don could build or repair nearly anything. His most treasured project was constructing the dream home he shared with his beloved wife, a testament to his craftsmanship and love for his family.
Don's faith was at the center of his life. A devout Christian, he was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church since 1962. His spiritual devotion was a guiding force, providing comfort and strength to him and those around him throughout his life.
Beyond his work and faith, Don's interests were diverse and joyful. He was an ardent supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, sharing his passion for the team with anyone who would listen. Don also found solace and pleasure in welding, a skill that served him both professionally and personally. Golfing was another pastime he enjoyed, embracing the challenge and camaraderie of the game.
Music held a special place in Don's heart. His talent for singing and playing the guitar was well-known, and he often shared this gift with others. Don's love for music led him to form a small band, through which he spread joy and entertainment to many.
Don's life was one of purpose, love, and laughter. He leaves behind a wealth of memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those he loved.
As we bid farewell to Donaciano "Don" Villegas Sanchez, Jr., we reflect on a life well-lived-a life filled with faith, hard work, and an unyielding dedication to family.
