Donald R. Baker, affectionately known by friends and family as Ricky, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Born on October 9, 1960, in Salisbury, Md, Ricky was a spirited soul who spent his entire life in the community he loved. He was preceded in death by his father Donnie Baker, mother Shirley Baker, and sister Donna McAllister.

Ricky was a devoted husband to Jennifer Jones-Baker, a loving father to his daughter Georgia Sluder and stepson Christopher Jones, and a caring brother to JD Baker and Carol Green. He was also a cherished nephew of Uncle George Searcy. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he showered them with love and laughter.

After completing his high school education, Ricky embarked on a career that would define much of his life. As a life-long truck driver and diesel mechanic, he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. His colleagues respected him for his knowledge and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.

Ricky's spiritual beliefs guided him through life's challenges and joys. He found solace and strength in his spirituality, which was personal and profound.

An avid outdoorsman, Ricky's interests included hunting and fishing, pursuits that allowed him to embrace the beauty of nature. His passion for NASCAR was unmatched, and he could often be found cheering on his favorite drivers during race season. Moreover, his love for animals was evident to all who knew him, as he always had a kind word and a gentle touch for every creature he met.

Those who knew Ricky will remember him as the life of the party. His sense of humor was infectious, and his adventurous spirit inspired many to join him on his escapades. Above all, Ricky was known for his generous heart, always ready to offer what he could to help others.

Ricky's legacy is one of joy, kindness, and an unwavering zest for life. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. While the world may be a little less bright without Ricky's radiant presence, the memories he created will continue to light the way for those he left behind.

As we say goodbye to Donald R. Baker, we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the time we were fortunate to share with him. His spirit remains with us, guiding and encouraging us to live fully, laugh heartily, and love generously, just as he did.

In honor of Ricky, a Birthday and Celebration of Life party for family and friends will be held on October 12, 2025 at Winterplace Park Pavilion on Old Ocean City Rd in Salisbury, Md from 11 am to 5 pm.
