Donald Blagdon Obituary
Donald "Doc" Gerard Blagdon, 68, of Paragould, passed from this life on September 19, 2023 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. Doc was born June 2, 1955 in Come By Chance, Newfoundland, Canada to Frederick and the late Norah Blagdon. In addition to his mother, Doc is preceded in death by his baby sister, Marilyn Blagdon; grandfather Leo (Pa) Hackett and grandmother Nanny Elizabeth Hackett.
Doc moved to Arkansas from Newfoundland in 1997 and stayed local until 2002 when he moved his family to Maine. Around 2011, Doc and his family moved back to Arkansas where they resided ever since. Doc achieved his nickname by getting his medical degree in family practice. He enjoyed working with geriatric patients and was the Medical Director of Rosewood Nursing Home in Nova Scotia, Canada. He also worked in the emergency department of several hospitals in the Arkansas area. Being a doctor wasn't what he did, it was what he was. When Doc wasn't practicing medicine, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and photography. But his true passion was gardening. Doc had a massive green thumb and could grow practically anything he set his mind to. Every year, he and his family would travel back to Newfoundland to visit friends and family. Doc was a deeply loving and dedicated man to his family.
Doc is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan Blagdon, of the home; son, Andrew Blagdon (Kimberly), of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Susan Woodring (Brian), of Paragould; brothers, Larry Blagdon (Jocelyn), of Calgary, Alberta, and Howard Blagdon (Cindy), of Gambo, Newfoundland; sister, Sylvia Harvey (John), of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia; and grandchildren Sarah, Lora, Evan, and Hannah.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Emerson Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Burial will be private.

Dr Blagdon and his family attended church with my family. They were a thoughtful and kind family. Prayers of comfort go out to the family and may the warm memories be a part of their lives .

Doc was a great doctor who truly cared about his patients. I started going to him over 2 yrs ago and from the first visit I knew he was going to be my doctor as long as he lived or decided to retire. We would sit and about our interests and life in general while he was taking care of my health. There will never be another as truly caring as he was he will be greatly missed.
