Donald R. Bourn, “Don,” age 83, of Hartville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on October 7th, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 24th, 1941, in Akron, Ohio, Don was the son of Robert and Virginia Bourn. Don was a lifelong resident of Hartville, Ohio. Known for his generosity and kind heart, Don touched the lives of everyone he met.
He graduated from Uniontown Lake High School before becoming an electrician, moving his way up through Goodyear followed by becoming a regional Vice President at Westinghouse Electric where he took early retirement. Don then purchased Novatny Electric which he ran until his final retirement.
On June 7th, 1964, Don married the love of his life, Marty. Their beautiful 60-year marriage was a true inspiration to all who knew them.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Marty Bourn; his children, Michael (Jamie) Bourn and Julie (Sean) James; grandchildren, Kenzie (Tom) James, Ethan Bourn, Sean-Michael James, and Connor Bourn; his brother, Bob (Alice) Bourn; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
A man of many passions, Don was an avid golfer, car enthusiast, and collector of classic Lionel trains. He served as a mentor to countless people, both young and old, throughout his life, and his presence brought joy to everyone around him. As a testament to his character and commitment to his alma mater and community, he was inducted into the Lake High School Athletics Hall of Fame in 2019.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10th at Evermore Community Church from 5-7 pm. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Don’s life on Friday, October 11th at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Don's honor to the Lake High School Golf Team.
Don will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, “Papa,” and friend.
