Donald E. "Don" Brewer Sr.

Donald "Don" Eugene Brewer Senior passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 28, 2023. Born on December 27, 1935 in Virden, Illinois, he was a loving husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather who touched the lives around him with warmth, humor and kindness.
Celebrating 68 years of marriage on December 23, 2022, Don shared a life filled with love and laughter alongside Norma. Their journey together was marked by cherished memories and unwavering support, even through some difficult times. Norma's remarkable dedication as a caregiver over the last several years, allowed Don to face each day with grace and dignity. Her selflessness and compassion were a testament to the extraordinary bond they shared. Their love story and caregiving journey will forever serve as an inspiration to us all.
Family meant the world to Don. As a father to Debbie Brewer Verbarg (spouse, Alan), Donnie Brewer, (spouse, Carla), and stepson, Michael (spouse, Susan), Don's love knew no bounds.
Being a grandfather and great - grandfather brought tremendous joy to Don's life. Known as "Grandpa B", he was immensely proud of his grandchildren and told them every chance that he could. grandchildren: Holly (Scott), Jennifer (Jeff), Steven (Paige), John, and Shawn. great - grandchildren: Ava, Finnley, Isabella P., Brinley, Layla, Isabella S., Dorothy, and Frankie.
Don enjoyed a long career in the printing industry and had many interests. He enjoyed fishing with his buddy Mike and being on the water. He also enjoyed classic country music, especially Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn. He was a Mason at the Masonic Lodge in Lawrence, IN. He will be recognized and will receive his 50 year award of being a Mason on Wednesday, July 5th. He also loved to sneak ice cream treats out of the freezer when Norma was not looking.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sister, and stepson.
Don's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will shine brightly through all of the memories he created and the love that he shared, especially with his family.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Costin Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will begin after the visitation at 2:00 p.m.
Don will be laid to rest at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
