Donald R. "Don" Brinker

Donald R. Brinker, 92, of Bellaire, Ohio passed peacefully surrounded by his family June 30, 2024 at Liza's Place in Wheeling, West Virginia. In addition to his parents, Joseph and Gladys (Lappert) Brinker, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Charles, sister, Dorothy Stolz, and one great-grandson, Anderson Doak. Don is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marguerite Wise Brinker, three sons, Terry and Jill (Perry) of St. Clairsville, Charles and Debra (Campbell) of Martins Ferry, Randy of Bellaire, one daughter, Pamela and John Ford of Mainesville, Ohio. His grandchildren, Nathan and Rachelle Brinker, Andrea and Drew Doak, Michelle and Justin Darby, Chad and Rachelle Brinker, Allison and Justin Hughes, Kris and Karen Brinker, Kasi and Jason Adams and Jennifer Howell. His 15 adored great-grandchildren are Coen and Eilyn Brinker, Lydia Hughes, Maddison, Kennedy and Abigail Brinker, Kade, Reed, and Kase Doak, Lawson, Lyla, and Lainey Darby, Lucas and Ava Grace Adams, and Danielle Parsons. Don was an avid Big Reds having graduated from Bellaire High School in 1951 and an active member of Rock Hill Presbyterian Church serving as a trustee. Don was enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1952. Serving in the Korean Conflict made SFC(T) in July 1953. He was awarded the Korean SVC medal w/2 Bronze Stars, Combat Inf. Badge, United Nations SVC and National Defense SVC Medal. Upon his honorable discharge he returned in June 1954 to employment with Columbia Gas, Wheeling, West Virginia. Don retired from Mountaineer Gas after 41 years. Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. Additional visitation on Friday, July 5, at Rock Hill Presbyterian Church from 1:00pm until time of service at 2:00pm with Rev. David Demarest officiating. Interment to follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Bellaire, Ohio.
