Donald F. Calhoun died Monday, September 22, 2025, in his home at Linwood Mill at the age of 91. Don was born on May 17th, 1934, in Atlanta, Georgia, to George Bailey and Mary (Karr) Calhoun. He spent his formative years in Atlanta; Dothan, Alabama; and Venice, California, before joining the United States Air Force on his 17th birthday in 1951. Don was a veteran of the Korean War, assigned to the 527th Aircraft Control and Warning Group at Itazuke AB near Fukuoka, Japan. Returning from Japan in 1953, Don served at several stateside stations before being assigned in 1957 to the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon, where he served for 4 ½ years. During this posting, he met Sandra Cooper of Wrentham, Massachusetts, and they married in 1959. Don left the Air Force in 1961 with the rank of Staff Sergeant and accepted a position with Raytheon in Bedford, Massachusetts. He and Sandra raised their family in Natick, Massachusetts, and at the end of his Raytheon career in 1976, established a successful printing/mailing business (Central Letter Shop), which he and Sandra ran until 2000, when they moved to Northbridge to be closer to their grandchildren.

Don is survived by a sister, Peggy Stork of Las Vegas, NV, son D. Scott Calhoun, daughter Melanie (Scott) Brundage (both of Douglas, MA), grandsons Lucas Brundage of Maine, Cody (Jackie) Brundage of Uxbridge, MA, and great-grandsons Elijah and Killian of Maine. Don is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as many friends at Linwood Mill and the Northbridge Senior Center. He was also the beloved president of the Booster Club of his daughter's Monday morning hockey team.

Don was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sandra; his parents; brother, Bobby Calhoun; sister Shirley Wallace; and his great-grandson Micah Brundage.
