My sincere condolences for your loss.

I came across his obituary today after I was in conversation with coworkers about how I knew of a man who was attacked by a polar bear in Alaska when I lived in Anchorage and worked for a plastic surgeon, George E. Siegfried, MD. I told my coworkers all about your father's story, as I knew it, from talk around the office and Dr. Siegfried's medical update on what lengths it took to operate on your dad's face and skull.

I met your father when he came into the office for a follow up visit a week or so after his attack and the 9-hour reconstructive surgery by Dr. Siegfried. I was in amazement at how this man standing in the lobby of the doctor's office survived a POLAR BEAR ATTACK! All I wanted to do was hug him.

I knew from Dr. Siegfried that your dad didn't want to talk about his ordeal or talk much about it to the press. I always thought it would make a documentary or book...even a movie.
I believe your Dad was an amazing human not knowing him, but knowing what he went through.

God bless and comfort you.
