Donald L. "Don" Clapsaddle, 66 of rural Erie, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2025 at his home.
He was born on September 15, 1958 in Parsons, Kansas to John D. and Anna C. (McKinney) Clapsaddle. His family lived in Erie until 1963 when they moved to Cherryvale until moving back to Erie in 1970. He graduated from Erie High School in 1976 and then attended Labette Community College. Following high school, Don worked for Tec Tank, Tank Connection and Chanute Manufacturing now B&W in Chanute.
He was active in the Kansas High School Activities Association and was an area football official supervisor. He officiated football for over forty years. Don was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling and collecting ball cards.
Donnie was a member of Living Word Assembly in Chanute.
He and Debbie (Yockey) Watkins were married on June 29, 1985 in Humboldt. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his children, Jessica Gray (Lucas) of Humboldt, Jeremy King (Kelsey) of St. Paul and Jenna King (Jake) of Erie; eight grandchildren; his siblings, Richard "Dick" Clapsaddle of Leavenworth, KS, Diana Adams of Joplin, MO and Debbie Jo Landgren of Parsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-father, Wayne Letcher.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Tony's Function Junction south of Erie.
The Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie is in charge of arrangements.
