Donald Eugene Dean

Donald Eugene Dean, 65, of Elkton, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Donald was born November 20, 1959 in Harrisonburg and was the son of Marguerite Shifflett, and the late Alfred E. Dean, Jr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Sharon Dean and step-father, Claude Shifflett.

Donald was a graduate of Elkton High School and a member of Covenant Pentecostal Church in Elkton. He loved fishing in the Shenandoah River, hunting, wood carving and etching glass. He was an insulation installer with Old Dominion Insulation before becoming disabled. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Montana Dean and companion, James Eaton; granddaughter, Naomi Eaton; brothers, Gregory Dean and husband, Sergio, Travis Shifflett and wife, Nora, Bret Shifflett and wife, Vickie, Gerry Shifflett and wife, Janet; sisters, Sherri Constable and husband, Andy, Donna Shifflett and husband, Floyd as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be conducted 11 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2025 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Pastor Travis Hensley officiating. Burial to follow at Elk Run Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Dean family to help offset unexpected funeral expenses.
