Donald Raymond Deaver 1940 - 2025
Donald Raymond Deaver, known affectionately as Don to his friends and family, and Papa to his grandchildren, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the age of 84. Born on July 1, 1940, in Brainerd, Minnesota, Don was a man whose life was built on the foundation of faith, courage, and selflessness. His gentle spirit and enduring strength left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
Don's journey through life was one of devotion and hard work. He dedicated 50 years to the construction industry as a general manager and had a keen eye for detail. His work as a builder helped shape the communities he worked in, leaving a legacy of sturdy homes and buildings that stand as a testament to his craftsmanship. Don served as a consultant for Hearthside Bank, where his wisdom and experience continued to benefit those around him.
Beyond his professional life, Don was a dedicated media member of the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, a role that spoke of his deep commitment to his faith. He lived his beliefs every day, inspiring others with his steadfast devotion and generous spirit.
Family was the cornerstone of Don's life. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Carolyn Deaver, who was his partner in all things and his greatest support. Together, they raised a family that grew to include their daughter Pam and her husband Jim Harkness, son Todd Deaver. Don was a cherished grandfather to Jason and his wife Sarah Harkness, Melissa Harkness, John Deaver, Amanda Deaver, Lexi and her husband Levi Heffner, and Mikey Deaver. His great-grandchildren, Julia, Audrey, Adam Harkness, Bella, Kimber, Faolan, Brannon, and Kason Deaver, will miss their great-grandfather's warm hugs and stories.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Myrtle Deaver, his granddaughter Amber Deaver, and several brothers and sisters. His memory will be honored and kept alive by his numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who were touched by his kindness and compassion.
Throughout his life, Don was a beacon of hope and a pillar of strength to those around him. His courage in the face of adversity, his unwavering faith, and his selfless nature made him a role model to many. Don was the kind of man who would offer help before it was asked for and who would stand by his loved ones through thick and thin.
As we bid farewell to Donald Raymond Deaver, we remember a man whose life was a beautiful tapestry of love, hard work, and faith. His legacy will continue to live on in the structures he built, the family he cherished, and the countless lives he enriched. Don's journey on earth has ended, but his story will be told for generations to come as an example of a life well-lived. His memory will be a treasure in the hearts of those who loved him, and his spirit will forever be a guiding light.
The world has lost a remarkable man, but heaven has gained a faithful servant. Rest in peace, Don. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
