On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, with his daughters by his side, the Lord led Donald Beryl Devore peacefully home. A devoted Christian, who faithfully followed Jesus Christ, Mr. Devore attend the Community Church of God in Glen Burnie Maryland.

The son of Roy Earl and Iva Edith Devore, he was born on January 5,1933 in Bloomington Il. After graduating from high school, Mr. Devore worked for State Farm Insurance company before enlisting in the Navy in 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Ilene Gazelle in 1953. They were married for 62 years until her passing in August 2015. After being honorably discharged in 1955 Mr. Devore was employed by the Department of Defense where he worked until his retirement in 1988.

Mr. Devore enjoyed sports – particularly baseball, playing on high school and legion teams in his youth as well as during his time in the Navy. He continued to play on recreational teams in his adulthood, playing until the age of 72 on a co-ed team with his daughter, Carol.

He is survived by his two daughters, Diane (Don) Boyer and Carol (Terry) Hays; son David (Esther) LaMaster; 8 grandchildren, Michael (Cecilia) Boyer, Steven (Brittany) Boyer, Rebecca (Jordan) Martin, Joshua (Jessica) Majerowicz, Matthew Majerowicz, Sarah (Michael) Yff, Thomas (Maria) LaMaster, Kimberly (Joe) Martin; 3 great grandchildren, Evelyn Majerowicz, Kurt Martin, Woodrow LaMaster and 4 step great grandchildren: Clay, Heaven, Lulu, Phoebe, Marceline.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Earl and Iva Edith DeVore, sisters and brothers-in-law: Lena Mae Huth; Virgina Kathryn (Harley) Rathbun; Ruth Eloise (Les) Kerfoot; Lois Jean (Harold) Washington; Donna Veryl (Bill) Braksick.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113, on Wednesday January 21, 2026 from 4 pm to 6 pm.

A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday January 22, 2026 at the Community Church of God, 306 5th Ave. SE, Glen Burnie, MD 21061 at 11:00 am.

Interment will be private at the Gambrills Church of God Cemetery, Gambrills, MD.

Flowers may be sent to the funeral home. Memorials my be sent to VFW Auxiliary 454, 1006 E. Lincoln St., Bloomington, IL 61701. Checks can be made payable to VFW Aux 454 and indicate as a memorial for Don Devore. This is Don’s hometown, and all memorials will honor his service to his country by providing food and personal items for Veterans at the local VA Clinic.
