Donald Joseph DiLauro, 79, passed away January 2, 2025. He was born to the late Charles (Mim) and Eileen DiLauro. Don was a graduate of Hower High School, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber after 34 years of service.
He excelled in all sports. Receiving 18 scholarships, 17 for baseball and 1 for football. He loved travelling with his family. Weekends on the boat, fishing trips to Canada, and Myrtle beach golf vacations were a staple of most summers. Hailing from the North Hill of Akron, he and his brothers built a strong bond leading to years of golf, euchre, poker, bowling, baseball, or anything competitive. Papa Donnie was the quietest of the boys, but was always heard when he felt strongly about something.
Preceded in death by his brother Jack and twin brother Ron; he is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jan; children, Jason (Lisa) DiLauro, Steve, Wendy (Scott Stevens), and Mark Hinkle; grandchildren, Isabella, Amilio, Enzo, Lauren, Seth, Owen, Carlie, Quinn, Cameron; and brother, James DiLauro.
The family would like to thank Traditions Health Hospice Care for the outstanding care he received.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Monday January 6, 2025 at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Services will be private, and interment will be at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
